Gwen Stefani has kicked off the Christmas season with a brand new original festive anthem, “Shake The Snow Globe.” The song will feature on the soundtrack to the upcoming movie Oh. What. Fun., which is a modern take on the classic Home Alone. Its star-studded cast features Michelle Pfeiffer, Denis Leary, Felicity Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Eva Longoria. The film will debut on Prime Video on December 3.
“Shake The Snow Globe” is a jolly, upbeat number meant for Christmas parties. It’s playful, catchy, and has the special ingredient all festive originals need: an inescapable and infectious chorus. “So / Shake / Shake / Shake the snow globe / I’m gonna need no cinnamon roll / Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! / I’ll be underneath the mistletoe,” Stefani sings.
The song is accompanied by a candy-colored music video where Stefani is joined by a live band, dancing nutcrackers, and ballerinas.
Speaking on the track, the No Doubt frontwoman shared in a statement: “This is the first time I’ve ever been asked to write a song for a specific moment in a film. It made me nervous, excited, and inspired to take on the challenge of creating a Christmas song that feels up tempo, nostalgic and reflects the sentiment of the movie.”
“Shake The Snow Globe” joins “Hot Cocoa” as one of two new Stefani songs that will feature in Oh. What. Fun. and be included on the Amazon Exclusive deluxe edition of her 2017 holiday album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas. Physical copies, which include a CD and a Snow/Baby Pink 2 LP vinyl, will drop next Friday (November 14).
The album title track, featuring Stefani’s country-singing husband Blake Shelton, has since become a modern-day holiday classic. Last year, the track peaked and debuted at No. 50 on the US Billboard 100 and has been certified platinum for over 1 million sales in the US alone.
Next year, Stefani will reunite with No Doubt for a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere in May.
