Premiere: PEGGY – Flight Risk

Indie-pop singer-songwriter PEGGY is already making a name for herself in the music industry. The 23-year-old immerses herself in the pages of books and the worlds of her favorite fiction characters.

With her previously released track, “Villains Aren’t Born (They’re Made)”, she found inspiration within Marvel’s favorite mischief maker Loki.

Taken off her debut EP Dear Reader, EUPHORIA. is exclusively premiering her new track and accompanying video “Flight Risk,” which is set to be released on March 22nd.

The EP finds the darling diving into the universal themes of mental health, self-love, and relationships.

In a press release, PEGGY said on the project, “When I listen to the songs on the project, it’s like I’m escaping into a sanctuary or a safe place. I get overwhelmed very easily, and the world can be too much. Sonically, I’m creating the world I want to create. I get calm from the music, so I don’t feel so overwhelmed. My world is less of a ‘place’ and more of a feeling.”

“Flight Risk”  is a fresh track that features a funky beat topped off with shimming piano and enchanting vocals. It finds the musician singing about commitment issues and running away from people.

“Sometimes I feel, a little bit lame / Watching you stand, alone at baggage claim / But I cut you a break, by cutting you off / Cause I got a discount on booking.com / And I’m gonna use it / Whether you like it or not.”

It’s easy to get swept away by the nerves of a budding relationship or even friendship. Hey, introverts raise your hands! Sometimes it’s easier to cut someone off rather than get to know them but with just a little time and patience those big, scary feelings will disappear. It’s all about taking it step by step.

The singer-songwriter found her inspiration for the music video from The Talking Heads’ “As She Was,” which infuses the visuals with a fascinating blend of playfulness and nostalgia that pays tribute to the band’s iconic style.

“Flight Risk” follows previously released tracks “Mess” and “Alice” which have already garnered millions of streams.

The most beautiful thing about PEGGY’s music is the fact that it’s scenario-specific but at the same time listeners can relate to it one way or another. Music is universal. She has such a bright future ahead of her and we can’t wait to see her journey unfold.

Stay tuned for more PEGGY music on the horizon.
