Alan Walker is not leaving 2023 without a new song for the Walkers to enjoy. Titled “Fire!”, that is exactly what the song is.
Walker recruited JVKE and YUQI ((G)I-DLE) for the new song to bring their magic to the track. It’s a love song about wanting to be with someone and how their absence can hurt you.
“Set my heart on fire / Pour gasoline all over my desire / When I go up in flames, I’m burning bright / I’ll tell you it’s too late to apologize,” JVKE kicks off the song, singing.
“You know sparks gon’ fly / Every time you look into my eyes / All it takes is one small match to light / ‘Cause once we feel the flame, we’ll never die,” YUGI comes in on the second verse after the beat drops singing. The two of them then combine their voices to sing, “You burnt that bridge / A million times, a million tries / You play with fire.”
Prior to its release on December 14th, Walker teased the track on his TikTok channel with a snippet he said was his favorite part of the song. I can see “Fire” becoming a big end-of-the-year track to dance along to and welcome the new year.
Walkerworld has definitely given us some special songs this era, including “Hero” featuring Sasha Alex Sloan and “Heart over Mind,” which saw the EDM producer collaborate with Daya. The album also includes “(Better Off) Alone Pt. III.
Since the release of the album, Walker has been on the Walkerworld tour, which he promises to bring “to every corner of the world.” Apart from extensively touring the album, he also launched a theme park with Fortnite, which draws inspiration from the current album and his previous three. However, according to him, his fans are always at the forefront of his creativity.
Collaboration has been another thing that’s at the heart of Walker’s artistry, and it’s seen him work with Sabrina Carpenter, Noah Cyrus, Torine, Au/Ra, K-391, and more. Speaking on his desire to work with other amazing talents, he said, “You all know how much I value collaboration and the magic that happens when people come together to make music and share experiences. Being a part of this journey has been an absolute honor.”
