Zara Larsson and David Guetta have teamed up for an exciting new single that’ll get you emotional and in the mood to dance at the same time. After their first collaboration, “This One’s For You,” stood the test of time and became one for the books – it was the official anthem for the 2016 UEFA Euro – the two global superstars have decided to tap into that same creative synergy for “On My Love.”
Per the accompanying press release, this song is tailor-made for the last dance at your favorite packed nightclub, sunset pool parties, and the main stages of festivals around the world.
“Now I don’t need the time to make up my mind (Yeah, yeah) / That’s on my love (Yeah) / That’s on my love (Yeah), yeah / Hear my pain, can you hear my prayer? / Take my breath, can you take me there?” Larsson sings in the first verse, which is accompanied by a lush refrain. Once you’re done listening to “On My Love,” it’s going to be hard to shake off that chantable hook, and it’s bound to make listeners want to press replay that one more time.
About the song, Larsson commented, “‘On My Love’ is about the relationships you have in your life that mean so much to you that you would put everything on them. Whether that’s a platonic relationship, something with a family member, a lover, a friendship or whatever it is – we all need someone that just brings you pure joy, because that’s what life is all about.”
The accompanying music video is an extension of the song’s message as we see a young Zara Larsson introducing her sister, Hanna Christina Larsson, in the most vibrant way. But that’s not all, with archives of their sisterly bond as kids cut in between their present-day moments, the video serves as an emotional tribute to their unbreakable bond and eternal sisterhood. Fans especially related to the sisters’ chemistry, whether they’re having fun at the beach or at a party floor.
Larsson first teased the electro-dance-pop track on September 7. She followed it up the following day by showing an old homemade recording of her and Hanna as children which later turned out to be the beginning of the song’s music video.
“On My Love” follows Larsson’s successful and fiery single, “Can’t Tame Her,” which spent 16 weeks in the UK Top 40, and climbed all the way to number one on US Dance Radio.
