There shouldn’t be any doubts as to why The Weeknd, born Abel Tesfaye, is the most streamed artist in the world right now. However, if there ever was that doubt, his world tour would be a fair explanation as to why.
The 33-year-old hitmaker from Canada is currently embarking on a huge world tour and recently finished the European leg at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium on Friday, August 18. Named “After Hours til Dawn Tour,” in promotion of his two recent studio albums After Hours and Dawn FM, the Wembley show sold a record-breaking 87,000 tickets with the “traditional concert set-up.”

Opening with Dawn FM‘s energetic lead single “Take My Breath,” the Grammy Award-winning star proceeded with the crowd pleasers — “Can’t Feel My Face,” “The Hills,” “Starboy,” and “I Feel It Coming,” to name a few.
Catering to his day-one XO fans, The Weeknd slotted in some of the early material from his 2011 mixtape House of Ballons — “Wicked Games,” “The Morning,” and the title track — while singing a handful of album cuts and his noteworthy features. Never a dull moment, screams filled the stadium throughout, and lyrics were sung word for word to each song.
Photo: Kate GreenOf course, his beastly 35-song set would be incomplete without the chart-topping banger “Blinding Lights,” which was an unsurprising highlight and a song made for stadium sets.
During the four-song encore, The Weeknd performed “Creepin,” his recent hit single with Madonna and Playboi Carter, “Popular,” and After Hours’ “In Your Eyes,” before closing with the euphoric “Moth to a Flame.”
Now that The Weeknd has completed the second leg of the tour, he will kickstart the third in Mexico on September 26 and perform across Latin America until October 25. From November 20, he will embark on what so far is the final leg in Australia and New Zealand.
