In the midst of a busy summer travel season, more Americans are planning their own European adventure. In fact, The U.S. Travel Association reported that air travel demand increased 12% in June 2023, compared to the demand in June 2022. But once you’re in Europe, one of the best ways to explore different countries is by train. While it can be overwhelming to plan out all of the logistics, lodging, and more for your next trip to Europe, fashion expert and Queer Eye star Tan France has your packing and fashion needs covered. In partnership with rail travel platform Trainline, France curated the ultimate style guide and tips for any European trip, no matter the time frame or destination.
In a recent study conducted by Trainline, more than half of American respondents agree that packing for a European vacation is one of the main causes of anxiety. To ease these worries, one of the biggest takeaways that France highlights in the style guide is keeping things light, especially when it comes to luggage and outfits.

He advises travelers to leave heavy travel luggage at home and use luggage space wisely by rolling belts and putting them in shoes and choosing neutral colors that are easy to mix and match. Opting for the monochromatic look will make it easier to put together multiple outfits and elevate your overall travel look and achieve that effortless European feel. Rather than packing a pair of stylish heels or flip-flops, France recommends leaving the stylish heels and flip-flops at home and instead, purchasing handmade leather sandals. They will not only be more comfortable when walking through cobblestone streets, they also serve as stylish souvenirs to take back to the States.
The style guide also includes the top European destinations for American travelers to explore by train, highlighting train trips between London and Paris, Amsterdam to Brussels, Paris and Milan, among other exciting trips. While these are some of the most popular trips for travelers, France’s most underrated train ride is the quick hour-and-a-half trip between Berlin and Prague. “I don’t really know anyone that takes that train but it’s an absolutely gorgeous trip to take.”

He even offered his top recommendation for all of the Bollywood-obsessed fans looking to plan their next trip. “Take the train to Switzerland and you’ll see all those scenes from every one of your favorite movies!”
