GRAMMY-winning and multi-platinum-selling artist Colbie Caillat is not slowing down as she drops another track titled “Wide Open” off her highly anticipated solo Country record Along The Way, set for release on October 6.
“Wide Open” was written by Caillat along with multi-genre songwriter Alysa Vanderheym (Kelsea Ballerini, One Republic, Luke Combs) and singer-songwriter Jordyn Shellhart (Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini). Jamie Kenney was involved on the production side of things.
The guitar and piano-driven track is meant to be a captivating and optimistic tune illuminating the idea of living life in full bliss and not worrying about what’s coming next. In other words, “Wide Open” encourages your heart to take that leap of faith.
In the press release, Caillat said, “I think we forget to live in the moment sometimes. Especially with relationships, we’re always so worried about where it’s going to end up and we miss the journey that it’s taking us on. ‘Wide Open’ is about how people are ever-changing, so being open to what life has to offer you or what relationships can complement your life in that specific season becomes freeing.”
“I kinda like where this is going / Even if it’s not goin’ anywhere / Feelin’ like the breeze flowing / Sometimes you gotta throw it all up in the air / I kinda like not knowing / I kinda like it being out of my hands / No, it’s not that I don’t care / But I just don’t care,” she sings.
This song proves that life doesn’t have to be planned out exactly how you want it. Sometimes you have to walk into the unknown which yes could be scary but it’s all about taking those chances no matter what. Life could end up taking you in a different direction to get you where you need to be and that’s okay – it’s ever-changing.
Caillat flawlessly shines on this track and has found her footing in another genre that she fits into perfectly. She goes the extra mile every release, giving listeners something they can easily relate to one way or another.
The artist’s lyrics are so pure and full of love and that’s why she has a connection to her fans in such a special way.
“Wide Open” follows the previously released tracks, “Pretend” and “Worth It” which are also featured on the new record. It features 13 tracks, all of which the singer-songwriter had a hand in writing.
We can’t wait to see how the rest of the year unfolds for her.
