Carrie Underwood – Take Me Out

Carrie Underwood is really feeding fans with a lot of exciting things at the moment, from releasing two singles to the announcement of her upcoming album’s deluxe version release date to getting her own channel on SiriusXM, Carrie’s Country. Fans can tune into Carrie’s Country to listen to her classic songs and hear all about how the country superstar comes up with her songs and the inspiration behind most, if not every, of her track. She will also be playing music from other country musicians she admires and fans can be sure to listen to music she loves. According to Underwood, Carrie’s Country is the “radio station I can listen to all day long.”

It’s only right that she adds “Take Me Out” – a song about making time to discover the best parts of love – to the lineup of songs we will hear from the channel. “Take Me Out” is Underwood pressing pause on life to enjoy her partner’s time and touch like times past, you know, before life started creeping in.

Where do the days go? / Routines, rushin’ around / Seems like it’s been so hard to find the time / For just the two of us,” she sings in the first verse, before deciding it’s high time they go on that much-needed date night they’ve always been pushing back.

But Underwood doesn’t just want any date night, she wants one that feels like the first time they kissed, with all the fire of that first-time experience. Throughout the track, we hear Underwood anticipate a date that reignites their passion and romance, even as she pictures wowing her partner with that black dress he loves so much.

Carrie Underwood first revealed plans for Denim and Rhinestones last year, saying that she wants to have fun with the process and make feel-good songs that people can enjoy.

“When we started making the album, [producer David Garcia] did say, “What do you want?” I said, “I want to have fun.” That was where I was at in my world,” Underwood told Rolling Stone last year. “I wanted to have a good time and sing songs that made me happy and have a blast when I’m onstage. We’ve done so much in the past, with my dramatic phases and different feels of what life is like. I wanted [this album] to be lighter and happier.”

“Take Me Out” is one of six tracks on the deluxe version of Denim and Rhinestones – out September 22 – and was written by Hillary Lindsey, David Garcia, and Underwood.
