Celine Dion – I’ll Be

There are many people that will freely confess that they believe in love because of Celine Dion’s music, so it’s more than fitting that she should play a mediator to two people falling in love in her first film role. Love Again – starring Priyanka Chopra, Sam Heughan, and Dion as herself – is a romantic comedy about finding love anew following a heartbreaking loss. For the soundtrack, the powerhouse vocalist has released “I’ll Be.”

In the movie, Chopra’s Mira Ray is trying to deal with the loss of her fiancé and, to cope, begins sending love messages to his old phone number not knowing that it’s been reassigned to someone else. As one of the original soundtracks written for Love Again, it truly captures the essence of the movie by being about a love that will stay through the storm and the calm.

You are a wildfire and I wanna be your oxygen / You are a dreamer and I’ll be the arms you’re sleepin’ in / You are a butterfly and I wanna be your blue sky / You are a gypsy and I’m on your passenger side,” Dion sings in the opening verse of how she can complement a lover in the best possible way.

The chorus sees her sing about staying through “the highs and the lows” and making sure her love never faces any challenge “alone.” The second verse also finds new ways to sweetly complement her lover, as she sings, “You are an angel and I wanna be your messenger / You are the lightnin’ and I wanna be your thunder / You are a shooting star and I wanna be your night sky.”

Written and composed by Ian Kirkpatrick, John Ryan, Ross Golan, and Jacob Kasher, “I’ll Be” is one of 13 tracks that make up Love Again’s soundtrack, which includes her old hits “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now,” “All By Myself,” “A New Day Has Come,” and “That’s the Way It Is.”

“I’ll Be” is accompanied by a lyric video that alternates between scenes from the movie to messages from Dion’s fans that wish the songstress a speedy recovery. Some of these messages, however, are thank-you notes to Dion for being a massive inspiration in their lives. “Celine, our sweet and lovable icon,” a fan’s board message highlighted in the video reads, with others like “You are the voice of love, beauty, and inspiration,” “You Made Me Believe,” “Je t’aime Celine,” coming up throughout the video alongside the lyrics.
