Dannii Minogue – Don’t Wanna Lose This Feeling (Initial Talk Remix)

Each artist has an album in their back catalog that is considered their magnum opus and for Australian singer Dannii Minogue, it’s her 2003 fourth studio LP Neon Nights.

Two decades later and Dannii is re-packaging the record with a 20th-anniversary edition with her former label London Records. In addition to a picture disc vinyl, a glittery cassette, and a CD/DVD package being released on June 16, Dannii is also dropping a special 7CD box set that will feature a whole ray of exclusive remixes, extended mixes, and instrumentals. One of those remixes includes a re-worked version of her UK top 5 single “Don’t Wanna Lose This Feeling” from Initial Talk, who have previously teamed up with the likes of Dua Lipa, Louise, Perfume Genius, and her older sister Kylie Minogue and brought a new life to their songs.

Out today, the “Don’t Wanna Lose This Feeling (Initial Talk Remix)” features a glitchy, y2k-inspired visualizer that includes clips of Dannii from the original music video. With the original version sonically embracing the dance-pop/post-disco sound that the likes of Rachel Stevens, Holly Valance, and Richard X also dominated the charts with, the Initial Talk remix takes on a more laid-back approach with hints of a garage production. Gearing up for the summer weather, this version could easily fit on a playlist in between Zero 7, Daft Punk, and SG Lewis and not feel out of place.

Reflecting on the era, Dannii said, “When I first released ‘Neon Nights’ I was overwhelmed. I was running around promoting and it was hard to catch a moment to enjoy it all — but even then, I knew that one day I’d be able to look back on it all, and I’d be able to think: ‘Wow. What a time!’”

2023 is expected to be the year of Dannii as she will be hosting a new dating show in the UK, I Kissed A Boy, on BBC3. As of this writing, a release date has yet to be confirmed.
