From taking the industry by storm with 2022’s Milk Teeth to starring in Amazon Prime’s new series Daisy Jones & The Six, Suki Waterhouse has us questioning if there’s anything she can’t do. Having risen to fame starting as a model, the multi-talented star has walked the runway for fashion houses such as Burberry, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander Wang, and many more before making her acting and musical debuts. Hot on the heels of The Six premiere, Waterhouse is continuing to turn heads with her new single, “To Love,” released last week and it’s all you could want and more. The affectionately titled track finds the native Londoner bringing the joys of love to life through the use of sweet lyrics and mesmerizing melodies.
Produced by Jules Apollinaire and Natalie Findlay, both of whom also produced Waterhouse’s hit single “Good Looking” which went viral on TikTok, the dreamy single utilizes the singer-songwriter’s angelic voice ingeniously. The soft, ethereal track slowly builds in the most relaxing way, immersing listeners into a dreamlike state, and the constant harmonies paired with delicate piano synths compliment the equally beautiful lyrics as Waterhouse sings about meeting people we never thought we would. “I traveled all corners where destiny called me,” she sings ahead of an enthralling chorus. “And it almost killed me but I got good stories.”
As the singer-songwriter exchanges her signature heartbreak-centered soundscape for a warmer, more optimistic take on romance, “To Love” also showcases Waterhouse’s incredulity at her own happiness as she illustrates finding the right person at the right time. “‘To Love’ is a song that I wrote really recently that I was going to wait to put out on my second album,” says Waterhouse in a press release. “But I felt like it is a very distinct portrait of my heart right now that I wanted to share,” she continues. “I started performing it on tour and got so excited that I wanted to share it with everyone.”
While we eagerly wait for the release of her second album, something we believe will only strengthen her musical reputation further, Waterhouse can be found starring in Amazon Prime’s new miniseries Daisy Jones & The Six, in which she portrays the eponymous band’s keyboardist Karen Sirko. “She’s the badass Brit that they need, the ultimate cool girl,” reads a description of her character yet it sounds to us like she’s just playing herself.
