Up-and-coming designer Christian Juul Nielsen debuted his bold Fall/Winter 2022 collection, AKNVAS FW22, at New York Fashion Week. Winner of the best new womenswear designer award at the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Awards in 2020, Nielsen showcases the same attention to detail in his new pieces that has crowned his band as a favorite of fashion-forward celebrities, such as Nick Jonas, Emilia Clarke, and Kate Bosworth.
Nielson’s impressive résumé includes positions at the design houses of Nina Ricci, Oscar de la Renta, and Christian Dior. It is in those creative settings he honed his techniques of flawless draping and flattering silhouettes, often crediting his times designing couture gowns for the acclaimed attention to detail of ANKVAS.
Now the creative director of Herve Leger, Nielsen saw a gap in the fashion world of interesting choices for professional women and men who want dynamic day-to-night styles that stand out in the office, as well as at exclusive afterparties. He filled those areas in with effortless and daring fashion alternatives when he founded AKNVAS in 2019.
AKNVAS FW22 showcases the same innovative principles the brand is known for, showcasing fearless designs in rich and luxurious textures. Nielsen embraced vegan leathers, neoprene, and bold luxurious knits in patterns never seen before on the runway. His vivid color palette of bright reds, yellows, oranges, and greens seamlessly mix with pastels of pinks, blues, and lavenders to create fantasy pieces that are meant to be worn every day.
Trend-setting sweatshirts and sweatpants receive the same attention to detail as the show-stopping vegan leather dress and knitted oversized sweaters.
