Gwen Stefani’s New Makeup Line, GXVE, Is Long Overdue

Gwen Stefani is launching a new makeup line, GXVE, and it’s honestly about time.

After previously endorsing and putting out beauty products with the likes of Revlon, Urban Decay, and L’Oreal Paris, the fashion icon is finally releasing a line under her own trademark.

Stefani’s makeup and style have been through many transformations throughout the decades. However, one thing that has remained a staple along the way is her red lipstick. After such demand, the music powerhouse is finally releasing a product that will enable you to emulate her signature look. “People have been asking for 35 years, ‘What color lip are you wearing?’ so that was the obvious place to start,” Stefani told ELLE.

Stefani has named the shade Original Recipe, which will be available in three different formulas: Original Me High Performance Matte Lipstick ($26), Anaheim Shine High Performance Satin Lipstick ($26), and I’m Still Here Lightweight Longwear Matte Liquid Lipstick ($24).

Lipstick isn’t the only thing Stefani is offering with the launch of GXVE, though. The eye range includes the Eye See in Color Multidimensional Eyeshadow Quads ($28) and the Line It Up 24-Hour Pencil Liner ($21) in two shades. For eyebrows, there will be the Hella On Point Ultra Fine Brow Pencil ($24) and the Mos Def Instant Definition Sculpting Brow ($24) that will both have seven shades. The oil primer for the face, All Time Prime, will retail at $48.

Even though the three-time Grammy winner rose to fame as the frontwoman of ska-punk band No Doubt, she makes it clear that she isn’t jumping on the recent trend of having a makeup line. “Music was something unexpected but makeup was something I’ve always done since I was a little girl. I don’t know why. I don’t know how, but it was born in me. I’ve always loved it,” Stefani told ELLE.

“I don’t need to be doing this. I don’t need to be working. But with all the blessings behind me, this is my give back,” she continued, adding, “This is my chance to have a legacy and build my purpose. I know that makeup gives me a feeling and that’s why I’m doing this because I want to share that with people.”

Those wanting to get their hands on the first set of the products will be happy to hear they haven’t got long to wait. From March 3, customers will be able to purchase what they want online via either the brands official website or sephora.com. On March 10, Sephora will be stocking the products in their stores nationally. As noted by Allure, all the formulas are vegan and cruelty-free.

The items mainly feature a black-and-white design with hints of gold, which stays true to Stefani’s sense of style and her No Doubt roots that made us fall in love with her in the first place.

While GXVE might only currently consist of beauty products, there is potential for the brand to expand in the forthcoming months. According to Trademark Elite, Stefani has trademarked the name so she can sell a variety of other things that include bags, fragrances, moisturizers, bralettes, and hair products, to name a few.
