Over the span of the three-day weekend in November at the Day N Vegas Festival, EUPHORIA. not only caught a ton of acts on stage but had the opportunity to chat with several artists about performing at the festival, their upcoming music, and beyond. Here, we chat with Baby Tate about performing and her inspirations. Check out more of our festival coverage here.
What has been your favorite performance during the pandemic?
I don’t know if I can pick a favorite. I think the one I felt most pressured at was at The Apollo Theater in Harlem. I opened up for Jazmine Sullivan and Mary J. Blige, so that was crazy. But this show was really great. Day N Vegas was really amazing. The crowd was great. The energy was great. The weather is great. I can’t really pick favorites of my shows. I love all my shows.
You look so good! I’d love to know what inspires you to express yourself via your music, specifically one of my favorites, “Pedi.”
It’s always been my outlet in life. I started making music when I was 13, and it was my way to express myself. I didn’t like to write in journals or anything. I would make songs, so I’ve just continued that throughout my career. And Pedi is one of those songs where it’s like, “This is a real story. These are inspired by true events, and I had to get real.”
