Your Grandparents — Sunlight

Your Grandparents release sizzling Summer bop “Sunlight.”

R&B trio Your Grandparents serve mellow harmonies and sultry baecation vibes on latest release, “Sunlight.” The accompanying music video features a beautiful woman dancing in a silk red dress along with picturesque shots of the beach with crashing waves. The sun shines through the window on the woman’s body, acting as the perfect backdrop for the soulful beat. The jazzy melody is the perfect blend of relaxation and energy.

“Sunlight” revolves around a steady drum beat. The chirps of birds can be distinctly heard in the background. The focal point of the entire song is the powerful male vocals. Each verse is poised and expressive. The track also combines mellow rap over the R&B sound. The bars are fast paced yet calm. The artists sing the chorus, “The walls are dancing / Your silhouette so enchanting / So in sync our temp tantric / Girl, you a trip you too entrancing / When The sunlight peekin’ through my window.” The romantic visual for the single is the perfect depiction to accompany the smooth lyrics.

Composed of vocalists DaCosta and Jean Carter and producer ghettoblasterman, the group is inspired by the older generations who introduced them to some of their favorite artists. With its rhythmic style, Your Grandparents cannot be strictly defined by one genre. The artists utilize aspects of many different genres to create a unique listen worthy of its own category. Written, directed, and produced by the members themselves, the track highlights their creativity and talent.

Following the release of “Sunlight,” Your Grandparents also announced the release of their debut album, Thru My Window. The project will feature more funky singles inspired by love with a closer look at the artists’ genre-bending abilities. The trio describes their creative process in a press release: “Our tastes have kind of combined into one. There’s not a lot of communication on the creation end that has to happen. We just fall into place.” Thru My Window is set to release on July 16.
