Chanel Coco Beach 2021 Collection

As our first post-vaccine summer dawns upon us, sure to be filled with emotional reunions and enjoying the life we so missed during our months of confinement, the fashion is sure to be legendary. After all, we’re all learning how to dress again, right? Whatever your summer plans, Chanel has you covered, with its relaxed and feminine 2021 ceach collection.

Angèle, the blonde Belgian singing sensation, is the face of this campaign. You may recognize her as the haunting, lilting French voice on Dua Lipa’s “Fever” off of Future Nostalgia: The Moonlight Edition. She first partnered with Chanel for their eyewear campaign in September of 2019, and since then has become a brand ambassador — she even sang with the legendary Sébastien Teller at the Chanel Cruise 2021/22 aftershow event.

Captured in the photographs of Oliver Hadlee Pearch (a change of lens from Chanel’s usual photography team, Inez and Vinoodh), Angèle frolics around a black background surrounded by sandy hills. The designs include a black one-piece bathing suit with a bow on its sleeve, a pristine white cover-up with a bikini top underneath that features a bow accent, and a stunning all-over blue and white printed two-piece set and bucket hat, which, obviously, includes the legendary interlocking “C” motif reimagined.

While the choice of an entirely black background may illicit an off sense of foreboding, it may be the creative direction’s manner of reflecting the current times — letting the black represent the storm of a pandemic we have all faced, and the sand, with Angèle’s infectious summer energy, representing the new lives we are all walking into.

The collection is now available in Chanel boutiques worldwide and on Chanel’s website. Watch the campaign video starring Angèle below.
