Surfaces — So Far Away

Surfaces — made up of Forrest Frank and Colin Padalecki — is the epitome of chill pop music. Their latest single, “So Far Away,” 10K Projects/EMI Records, is the third single from their forthcoming album and the next in a cinematic storyline they’re creating. This song is already the perfect addition to your summer playlist that you’re no doubt putting together as the temperature changes — it’s fun, light, and perfect beach listening.

In fact, Surfaces created a video for “So Far Away” that’s the ultimate summer story. The video finds a group of friends — with the focus on two best friends — riding in the car with the windows down, hanging out at the beach, grabbing In-N-Out, and enjoying every other little thing we all love about summer. The visual is a brilliant representation of the friendship at the core of this chill, dreamy song.

The Texas-based duo has been dropping chill hit after chill hit since they got together in 2017. They shot to fame when their song “Sunday Best” went viral on TikTok last year — to the tune of 2.3 billion streams and counting. Though the song made Surfaces a more recognizable group and got them guest spots on shows like TodayThe Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show, and Late Night With Seth Meyers, these two guys are still just regular dudes who want to make music that they love.

“So Far Away” is part of their music journey and evokes all the same vibes that they’re known for. And just like the rest of Surfaces’ discography, “So Far Away” comes with a simple, pastel piece of cover art. These two Texans have a brand and they’re sticking to it. And with this new track putting us firmly in the mood for summer, we’re now super excited to find out what comes next.
