Evann McIntosh — NOBODY ELSE

The latest offering from rising 17-year-old singer-songwriter Evann McIntosh, “NOBODY ELSE,” is bound to put you in a good mood.

The sweet R&B-influenced bop is pure joy from start to finish and hears McIntosh express their love to a special someone. Its repetitive, light-hearted chorus — “Because it’s you babe / Nobody else but you babe / Nobody else but you babe / But you babe” — is not only super cute and endearing but also very catchy.

“‘NOBODY ELSE’ is about commitment and being very proud of your relationship with somebody,” McIntosh said in a press release about the song. “It is about monogamy and the idea of there being one person for everybody, and that you’ve found yours.”

McIntosh also released a music video to accompany the song. Shot in New York, they can be seen showing off their dance moves around a luxurious penthouse, rowing a boat and swinging on a swing in the sun, and singing in a room filled with goldfish hanging inside plastic bags.

“NOBODY ELSE” is McIntosh’s second release of 2021, following “JENN!FER AN!STON.” Both songs will be taken from McIntosh’s upcoming album, Character Development, which is scheduled to drop on Aug. 27 via Mom+Pop Music.

“Written and recorded primarily in the breakout star’s suburban Kansas bedroom, the 13-track collection mixes dark alt-pop and dreamy R&B with streaks of hip-hop, jazz, and funk, calling to mind everything from Prince to Billie Eilish as it grapples with growth and evolution, gender identity and sexuality, freedom and self-expression. The album is a work of pure intimacy, a poignant and revealing portrait of modern adolescence from an artist unraveling the mysteries of their psyche one song at a time,” their press release states.

“This record is all about growth and change,” McIntosh continued in their statement. “I’m always evolving, and this album is the sound of that transformation, of one version of myself giving way to the next.”
