Italian-produced line Heron Preston is known for its aesthetic of fashionable workwear that is ultimately inspired by streetwear. Preston’s latest collection named “Between Two Worlds” reflects a realm that represents the duality to create and design pieces that can be appreciated and worn by two contrasting individuals — the everyday worker and fashion-lover. Longtime fans of Heron Preston will enjoy what they see as you can expect oversized coats, camo cardigans/shirts, and the wide-cut pants we’ve grown to know and love by the brand.
“I have real construction workers who are engaging with my brand. And what I’m hearing from them a lot recently is a complaint, ‘That’s not real workwear—we can’t wear that on job sites!’ And this really started to affect me. I was thinking, wait, am I doing something fake here? So I’ve started to really question my approach to the stories of collections and designing workwear,” designer Heron Preston said on a Zoom call before the launch.
Heron Preston’s collection not only replicated a utilitarian aesthetic but was a fresh take on what we may have thought everyday basics would look like. Elevated staples such as hooded jackets, shirt-jackets, polos, and track pants were actually crafted from fire retardant materials to make each piece truly authentic to the brand. Preston’s goal is to achieve the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certification for his collection meeting all requirements for USA regulated workwear.
Preston’s Caterpillar Stormer Boot and Intruder Sneakers garnered attention after they first debuted during his Fall/Winter 2020 show in Paris. They are now styled with the Fall 2021 collection and inspiration was drawn from New York City construction workers and essential workers that played an even more important role throughout the pandemic.
The collection can truly be loved and worn for real work purposes or by streetwear-lovers equally. Heron Preston continues to be inclusive and blur the lines of gender-specific fashion. Women can easily gain a sense of “borrowing from the boys” with an oversized jacket paired with a leather legging and statement heel. Men can sport a classic layered winter look: hoodie, puffer coat, wide-leg pant, and topped off with a hype sneaker.
Heron Preston’s Fall 2021 menswear collection is buy-now-wear-now, which makes it easy for anyone to purchase within our new world and way of getting dressed today.
