London-based singer/songwriter SAPPHIRE is ready for Christmas, and she’s starting with her video for “Driving Home For Christmas.” The brand-new video, shot in one take, watches the young singer go through all the emotions that come along with the holidays and exploring those nostalgic feelings — even in a year that’s not what anyone expected.
“I adored every second of creating this video,” SAPPHIRE shared with us. “I picked ‘Driving Home For Christmas’ as a song for the EP because it’s a song that will always remind me of driving up to Scotland with my family to stay with our close friends for Christmas, and so Ricky [the director] created this amazing one-take video concept that shows how even though our cars won’t be moving this year, our memories still will be.”
The video, directed by Ricky Allen (who has worked with the likes of Little Mix and Jess Glynn), feels charming in its simplicity, allowing SAPPHIRE’s sultry vocals to reign supreme. It also highlights what you love about the holiday season — sweater dresses, time with your loved ones, and snowball fights. It’s a song and video that would feel right at home on your screen with a crackling fire beside you and a warm cup of hot cocoa or cider.
This is just the start of SAPPHIRE’s Christmas-themed offerings, though. The YouTube star plans to roll out a Christmas EP in December to help you celebrate this time of year. SAPPHIRE’s star continues to rise, ever since her debut in 2016. Her hit song “Unity” has garnered over 42 million streams across all platforms since its release, and the singer has played on some of the biggest stages the world has to offer.
