It is no exaggeration to say that you have seen your faves wearing designs from Jacqueline Rezak’s Rad + Refined accessories brand. We’re talking Gabrielle Union, Paris Hilton, Billie Eilish, Bebe Rexha, JoJo Siwa, Meghan Trainor, and even North West!
Recently, chart-topping rapper Cardi B made headlines after she visited American Dream with her adorable 2-year-old daughter, Kulture, wearing custom-made jeweled oval-shaped shades with their names written on the lenses. And of course, Rad + Refined is giving you the chance to purchase your own custom pair at a humble price.
The eye-catching designs are not only affordable but also very unique. It is no wonder that A-listers are flaunting Rad + Refined’s designs on the gram non-stop.
EUPHORIA. got the chance to ask Rezak some questions about the brand and what customers can expect next.
How long ago did you decide to launch Rad + Refined? Was an online boutique something you always had planned? I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago where I studied both journalism and fashion and during my time there I had an idea to start a style blog where I would post about celebrities, new products, and events I would often go and cover. The blog was called “Rad + Refined,” which were two words that I felt described my personal style best (still holds true to this day). At that time I never in a million years thought it would transition into the brand that it is today, that’s why I always tell people to work hard and dream big.
How would you describe Rad + Refined in three words? Effortless, relatable, happy.
A lot of the items are very affordable. Is the pricing something you are very conscious about? Absolutely, it is important to me that our customers have options when visiting our website because naturally everyone is looking for different items and has different budgets. Some may be coming to shop for that one special pair of custom bridal sunglasses while others may be looking for something they can wear for a selfie. So I try to offer styles at several price points to make it affordable for everyone.
Some of the biggest stars have worn your eye-catching sunglasses – have any come by surprise? I am so honored and grateful to be recognized by some of the biggest stars for my designs. I never expect anything, so when it does happen I am always very humbled and excited!
Has the ongoing coronavirus pandemic slowed down or affected your creative process? Of course, the pandemic has caused me to make some changes to my creative process. I am focusing more on spreading positive messages on my eyewear such as “stay home” or “social distancing” and also trying to create styles that will bring joy and smiles with bright colors during such a difficult time.
What is your key advice for anyone aspiring to be a designer or stylist? My advice would be to work hard; if you’re looking for a “9 to 5” job, this is not it. Politely accept criticism but always trust your gut, and, of course, stay humble.
What is next for Rad + Refined? Is there a new collection launching soon that people can look forward to? Yes! I am slowly releasing styles from my new Y2K collection, think Paris Hilton, shimmer, and Britney Spears — that’s the vibe.
