Marc Jacobs Launches The Polysexual Collection

Described as an “ode to otherness,” the latest Marc Jacobs collection celebrates polysexuality: the sexual or romantic attraction to many genders. The new line embraces individuality, encouraging everyone to express themselves regardless of their sexual orientation or gender. Named “Heaven,” the direct-to-consumer collection features brand new clothing, accessories, and memorabilia.

To develop the collection, Jacobs went back to his roots by tapping into the original, subversive spirit of the brand. According to the official website, he drew inspiration from past themes like “teenage daydreams, alienation nation, queer youth,” and “girls who are boys and boys who are girls, and those who are neither.” He then reimagined these bold concepts for the next generation of daring fashionistas.

Jacobs was also inspired by a range of artistic influences. In particular, he name-drops contemporary artists who’ve subverted gender and sexual norms through their work. These creatives include Gregg Araki, known for his queer movies from the 90s, and Cindy Sherman, the photographer whose alluring photos critiqued traditional notions of gender.

What’s more, the collection campaign features modern creatives who embody the brands’ self-expressive and subversive message. Rising talents like Beabadoobee, Larissa Hofmann, and Lily McMenamy are all featured! Additionally, the lookbook was captured by Shoichi Aoki, the legendary founder of FRUiTS Magazine, whilst the lo-fi campaign photos were taken by the model and photographer Larissa Hofmann.

Imbued with a childlike and whimsical spirit – represented by the label’s double-headed, teddy bear logo – these new pieces are packed with fun prints and relaxed silhouettes. Stand-out pieces include the Techno Floral Mesh Top; covered in a funky psychedelic pattern, the Crazy Daisy Hoodie; featuring embroidered artwork by Chris Cadaver on the front, and the adorable Double-Headed Teddy Backpack.

Most importantly, the polysexual collection is accessible. All the items are priced between $45 to $395. Great lower-cost pieces include classic T-shirts like the Crazy Daisy Tee or the Heaven Logo Baby Tee

So, if this subversive collection has intrigued you, get yourself over to the official Marc Jacobs website and bag yourself a fun piece from the line!
