AKNVAS SS21

AKNVAS is a new modern clothing line for men and women, created by Danish designer Christian Juul Nielsen from 2019. Though this particular line is new, Nielson has a wealth of experience working for major brands like Nina Ricci, Land of Distraction, Dior, and Christian Lacroix. Nielsen is the current creative director for Herve Leger and his own line AKNVAS.

Being hopeful in the current pandemic circumstances inspired this collection. It is a meeting of Scandinavian minimalism paired with the more colorful and adventurous Caribbean Island vibe. SS21 design revolves around thoughtful, sharply-designed pioneering pieces for insightful and dynamic men and women. The compositions mostly comprise striped shirtings, but nylons and gazer denim also form an integral part of the collection.

Our current situation inspired the clothes, whereby they consider that most people are working from home or home much more often. The pieces are great for moving from Zoom calls to dinner. Men’s clothing has inspired his women’s line, and this collection is no different. The clothes focus on the shape, tailoring, ground-breaking knits with an elaborate color palette, and a touch of gender flexibility.

This is the first time Nielsen has created menswear for AKNVAS. The clothes are modern, contemporary, and adventurous that seem to narrate beautiful life stories while others take a more serious look. Our current life factors make the line to be very expressive. The clothes feature stripes, greens, and blues with elastic waists on the pants and oversized shirts for comfort.

The male models were shown only wearing sandals, making this unique, especially when paired with business-style clothes. Jumpsuits are also featured in several colors, and this brings excellent appeal since many of a younger generation are seeking easy, yet put together pieces. It is a selective colorful collection designed carefully by Nielsen, who asserts that he creates what he would only comfortably wear.
