Meghan Trainor – Underwater (ft. Dillon Francis)

Meghan Trainor’s “Underwater” with a huge assist from Dillon Francis is, put quite simply, so damn fun. The dance track evokes a summer vibe, naturally, and is an excellent addition to Trainor’s deluxe album Treat Myself, released July 17 with bonus tracks.

EDM producer Francis is no stranger to monster collabs, having worked with Skrillex, Calvin Harris, and Martin Garrix, among others, brought his cool, funky style to Trainor’s song. The song is bold and bright yet slick and smooth, letting Trainor’s voice blend perfectly with Francis’s beats.

Trainor has, at this point, practically mastered the pop genre and is swiftly moving into the dance scene as well. Her previous huge hits “All About That Bass” and “Lips Are Movin’” were just the beginning for her to continue to show off just how well she can craft a tune and give you a song you won’t soon forget. She’s also commanded dance songs as well, releasing “With You” with Kaskade, and now with “Underwater” on her resume, I’d like to kindly request that this dance-pop trend continue.

“Underwater,” like so many other songs recently, is a fun summer dance song that’ll brighten your nights and get you moving. Francis knows how to deliver an addictive beat, which is what he’s done with “Underwater.” The song is also brilliantly not overproduced, leaving room for Trainor to shine.

Francis shared a fun video on Twitter announcing the song was out on July 17 that feels like it could have been the actual music video for the song. Trainor and Francis are basically SpongeBob and Patrick. How is that not perfect for a beachy song called “Underwater”?
