You can’t really ever prepare for a global pandemic, these 3 months have taught me a lot about who I am. I am a resourceful creative with many ideas and a passion for learning. I am a panic buyer who considers ice cream as breakfast when under extreme circumstances (also known as a pandemic).
I’ve definitely had those days where I wanted to shut the world out and cry to an uplifting episode of Queer Eye to feel better about things – but for the most part, I’ve kept it together and come out the other side improved. I haven’t managed all the things I set out to achieve, like learning slide guitar or getting really good at life drawing (rogue choices in retrospect to be fair) but equally, I’ve progressed a lot in other ways.
I filmed and directed my latest music video from home, cut and comped some vocals that’ll be used on my next song release, did a few shoots from home (like this one), all of which have reignited a passion for resourceful creative thinking again. I’ve been writing songs for other people, as well as finishing off my album and making plans for what’s left of the year.
I’ve come to the conclusion that in a zombie apocalypse I’d be of absolutely zero skill-set use to anyone but my positive attitude and singing voice would probably keep me alive.
