Megan Thee Stallion – Girls In The Hood

Houston icon Megan Thee Stallion has dropped the new song “Girls in the Hood,” street-smart ode to the Eazy-E and N.W.A 1987 classic “Boyz-n-the-Hood.” Taking pride in being a product of surroundings, Megan’s latest offering is a vibrant celebration of the lifestyle and energy of her community featuring all the elements of Megan’s signature vibe and musicality.

Hinged on celebrated her culture and blackness, the track is an empowering anthem that blends playful lyricism with a powerful delivery and important message;  reminding girls all over the world because you’re from the bottom, it doesn’t mean you can’t come out on top and shine.

“I’m a hot girl, I do hot shit/I don’t text quick, ‘cause I ain’t thirsty / These bitches mad, mad, they wanna hurt me.” She raps on the hook of the self-confident, catchy song before putting her own, unique spin on Eazy-E’s original lyrics.

“Girls in the Hood” follows a string of singles from the rapper– who hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the remix of “Savage” featuring Beyoncé– including “Diamonds” with Normani from the Birds of Prey soundtrack and “Freak,” and her third EP, Suga.

The track– which Megan teased with a clip on Instagram, where she’s seen twerking alone in a striped sundress, capturing “Hot Girl Summer” vibes to perfection– is the bop every girl needs now and always. Coming halfway through what is undoubtedly Hot Girl Meg’s best year yet– with a star run on HBO Max’s show Legendary, her role as an ambassador for Savage X Fenty, a #1 single, and an incredible 5 nominations at the 2020 BET Awards, “Girls in the Hood” only solidifies her iconic and inspirational status in the music industry.
