Jake Miller – SAVED ME

Jake Miller’s not letting lockdown keep him from releasing new music. His latest single, “SAVED ME” just dropped, and it’s a bit of a departure from the music we’ve come to know from this Florida native. Miller, who’s been making music since high school, previously spent a lot of effort writing about heartbreak, but that’s a theme he says he’s left behind now, and “SAVED ME” is proof of that.

“I’m in a really good space mentally these days, a great headspace, and that’s all I want to really write about,” he said of his new music. And the upbeat poppy song is a clear sign that Miller is indeed happy. The song, with sweet lyrics like “When we met / I was lost / Didn’t know / who I was / You saved me,” is a summery pop confection that firmly puts Miller on a path to his whole new era.

“As a musician, I always just kind of want to switch it up and try different sounds, try different topics, and stuff like that,” Miller said of his upcoming work. “I’m focused on the future, so that’s pretty much all I’ve been writing about. I think people will really like the lyrics. I think lyrically this is just my favorite stuff yet.”

“SAVED ME” has been ready and waiting for a release date for several months, and Miller knew this weird time in the world, with COVID-19 and the resulting lockdown, was exactly the right time to bring out the positive song for his fans. “I made it in September when I got off tour, and I’ve just kind of been sitting on it and waiting for it to come out,” Miller said. “We’ve kind of just been waiting for the right time to do it. I think now is kind of the perfect time to do it, because everyone is just dying from music. I can’t get on the road and see my fans, so there’s not much I can do besides be on social media and put out music.”

Miller’s new track would be perfect to blast in your car on a hot summer day while you’re cruising down the highway, but until we can all really get outside and return to normal, “SAVED ME” will just have to be played at max volume in your backyard or on your fire escape. It demands open air to let the underlying beat ring out while you sing along.

“SAVED ME” sets the tone for the music that Miller expects to release later this year, though he’s not sure yet if it’ll be an EP or a full album. What he does know is that he has a ton of music that he’s been cranking out over the past several months ready and waiting to be put together and presented to his dedicated fans. “I have it all ready to go,” Miller teased. And we can’t wait to hear more of this new sound, but until then, we’ll just bop to “SAVED ME” on repeat.
