Dagny – Somebody

Norwegian pop star, Dagny, has today released a shimmering single about falling in love, titled “Somebody.”

Following on from her trademark style of euphoric pop bops, “Somebody” is another Dagny track that does not disappoint. Bubbling synths intertwine with Dagny’s instantly recognizable, upbeat vocals for a great ‘lockdown dancefloor’ number.

It’s the perfect tune, lyrically and sonically, to describe that rush of falling in love. Dagny explains: “It’s the all-consuming and exciting feeling when everything is still new. I’ve been lucky to experience it. I find that when I’m in love I feel everything ten times more than usual. With ‘Somebody’ for me it’s not just the lyrics but the whole vibe of the song that represents that: when I listen to it I get a lot of positive energy and I just wanna throw myself into something new and exciting.”

The music video epitomizes that feeling of loved-up elation perfectly; the way the joy absorbs into your body until the happiness fizzes in your veins.

Filmed in London before quarantine, Dagny is seen in multiple settings: strolling past colorful houses in a blue trenchcoat, twirling on a rooftop at night in a silver dress, dancing in a black and white checkered room in a matching top, peeking through a room full of golden chandeliers, and jumping around in a plush bedroom. The whole visual feels like one big party; a life lit up by love.

“Somebody” is Dagny’s second single to be released this year. “Come Over” – a cheeky tune about wanting to get to know someone – came out in February.

Both tracks will be featuring on Dagny’s long-awaited debut album, set for release in September this year. Can’t wait that long? Neither can we. Luckily, Dagny will be splitting the album into two parts, with the first six tracks on Side A available for streaming on May 22nd.
