With most of the globe in lockdown, the fashion world is adapting to the change – and getting creative.
French designer Jacquemus cast supermodels Bella Hadid and Barbie Ferreira in a stunning campaign for his SS20 collection.
Captured by photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti and directed by Simon himself, the models posed for a series of photos over FaceTime. With no hair or makeup team on hand, the models’ natural beauty and Jacquemus’ pieces took focus.
Quarantined at home at her family’s farm in California, Bella Hadid is pictured in pieces from Jacquemus’ spring/summer 2020 collection. Colorful sunglasses, crop tops, trousers, and handbags (the Le Grand Chiquito bag covers Hadid’s frame), were all seen in the digital shoot.
This is not Hadid’s first FaceTime photoshoot – and unlikely her last as lockdown continues. The model appeared in an editorial for the latest issue of Vogue Italia last month.
Barbie Ferreira brought beachy vibes, kitted out in a commanding pink sun hat, khaki green bralette, floaty white linen shirt, and a purple and green cotton top, amongst other looks.
Ferreira’s inclusion in the campaign marks an exciting and positive change for the label. Until recently, Jacquemus’ campaigns and runways only featured sample size models (with the exception of ‘plus-size’ model Jill Kortleve at his AW20 show).
In addition to the two supermodels, musician Steve Lacy was also featured in the SS20 campaign. With a more laid-back vibe about his shoot, Lacy posed at home in Jacquemus’ colorful, creative pieces, featuring sunglasses, polo shirts, shorts, shirts and socks.
