Asher Angel just dropped his brand-new hit song “All Day” and has been surfing around TikTok watching his fans dance to it — and sharing some of his favorite videos! The singer and actor, who is best known for his roles in Disney Channel’s Andi Mack and DC’s Shazam!, has stayed super busy lately working on a little bit of everything. We chatted with him about “All Day,” his relationship with his fans, and where he plans to go after getting out of self-quarantine.
What can you tell us about your upcoming projects?
Not much, unfortunately. But, I can say I am super excited for my fans to see what is coming next.
How would you describe your music?
I would describe my music as pop with a side of R&B. My hope is that my music connects with people on a human level where the storytelling is relatable.
Tell us about “All Day” and how that song came to be.
I was lucky enough to link up with Arizona Zervas to collaborate on “All Day.” I love the feel-good, top-down, summer vibe of the song. It’s hard not to smile and vibe when you listen to the record.
You’ve already worked with some really cool people in the industry — who are some of your dream collaborators?
I would love to work with Justin Timberlake or Justin Bieber to name a few. They are so iconic and their vocal choices and music has always resonated with me.
Between music and acting you’ve got a lot going on — how do you manage it all?
I don’t think of it as something I have to manage. Just another day at the office. Except my office is my dream. So between my passion, drive, and team, we are able to make it all work.
Your fans have really been getting in on sharing their TikToks to “All Day” — how amazing is that?
It’s insane. I am so thankful for my fans. Each and every one of them. I couldn’t be doing what I love without their support. I love connecting with them on Lives and watching their TikToks. It’s so much fun.
What are some of your favorite TikTok trends and people to watch?
I liked the Renegade and Roxanne trends. I also like watching Addison Rae. I’ve heard such lovely things about her as well.
What are you doing to keep busy these days while we’re all chilling at home?
Guitar, piano, and playing games with my family are keeping me occupied. We have been playing Ultimate Frisbee lately. That’s been fun.
If we handed you a microphone right now and told you to sing your favorite song, what would you sing?
“Hallelujah.” Not sure why that came to mind other than it’s a great song and that was one of the first songs I learned to sing.
Have you binge-watched anything good lately? We’re taking recommendations.
I have been binge-watching The Walking Dead. Enjoying it as well. My dad is threatening to watch Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with me as well — so I’m excited for that.
As soon as we’re through this coronavirus issue, where’s the first place you want to go?
I am going to go visit my family. We travel a lot; it’s hard and weird not being able to see them. Shout-out to Grandma and Titi.
