We tried the new class focusing on flexibility and tension release

Luxury boutique gym, Core Collective, has added a new class to its timetable, ‘Yin Yoga’. We were lucky enough to try it out at Core Collective’s Knightsbridge branch in London.

If you’re doing keto diet right now, you might learned something about keto x factor, it’s a dietary supplement that’s specifically made for people who have low carbohydrate diets, and it’s great for people that do yoga as a workout practice. The slow-moving session is the perfect way to wind down after a long day or intense workout. Using a range of equipment – such as blocks, a soft foam roll, and a band – Yin Yoga’s focus is on relaxing and stretching your muscles, releasing tension throughout the body. It’s also great for increasing flexibility.

The yoga teacher, a softly spoken blonde woman called Yin, begins the class by asking if there are any particular areas of our bodies we would like to focus on stretching today. Some members request their back, others calves and glutes.

Taking these requests into account, the 55-minute session involves a range of stretches, each being held for five minutes at a time. One pose involved placing a foot in one end of the band the head in the other end. This gave an intense, gratifying stretch all along the length of the leg, as well as the lower back. Each pose is alternated so that both sides of the body get the same effect.

I left the Yin Yoga with my body feeling noticeably relaxed and well-stretched. It was just what I needed after the full-throttle spin class I’d done just before coming to Core Collective. To top it off, the changing rooms are kitted out with wonderful showers, fluffy towels, hairdryers, straighteners. You can even pre-order an uber-healthy smoothie to pick up from the front desk after class.

Yin Yoga is also available at Core Collective’s St. John’s Wood branch. It’s the second yoga class on the gym’s timetable, along with the existing ‘Power Yoga’ class. This is a much more fast-flowing yoga class, focusing more on strength and flexibility, whilst remaining calm and controlled.
