Genre-bending artist-producer and alté rising star AYLØ, has just released his 10-track mixtape titled ‘DNT’ ‘DLT,’ and is the follow-up to his 2017 mixtape, Insert Project Name. Both records have garnered AYLØ over a million streams on Spotify and Soundcloud alone, along the way. Rapper, singer and beatsmith, AYLØ is one of the seminal Nigerian creatives, alongside the likes of Odunsi The Engine and Santi, pioneering the exciting and innovative fusion sound coming out of Africa, which is popularly referred to as alté, and is currently disrupting the music and culture in Africa, as well as making waves internationally.
While he is one of the forerunners behind the alté sound, AYLØ is even more keen on highlighting the alté movement and community, rather than just the sound, which is why he brings fellow alté rising artists like Fasina, Sugarbana, Cheso, and PsychoYP along for the ride, on his new 10-track ‘DNT’ DLT’ mixtape.
Speaking about the inspiration for his DNT’ DLT mixtape, AYLØ says:
“The mixtape is about believing in yourself and your ideas. It’s about maintaining confidence through it all you know. Like how the closest people to you sometimes are the ones that either don’t believe at all or they catch on late… after you’ve already been struggling, having to hear all the condescending s*** that might be said about you and your career decisions. Still it’s your life and your existence, so no one can tell you who you are unless you tell yourself that as well. It only becomes real when you make it real. So whatever it is… dnt dlt. Fight the depression. Know you’re not alone… and don’t delete. Don’t kill yourself, don’t delete yourself, you are abundant. Stay Alive. Please. Love.”
