I’ve never been happier to see the resurgence of a genre more than disco. One such set joining the groovy wave is British trio Patawawa, whose new single, “Never Been Better” premieres today on EUPHORIA.
Having only burst on to the scene last year, Patawawa’s song, “Patagonia” spent six days atop the Hype Machine charts, getting signed, playing their first headline gig, heading off on a U.K. tour and playing festivals such as Bestival and Tramlines.
“‘Never Been Better’ is a song that came about last year after we found ourselves stuck in a bit of a rut,” Rory explains. “We all might make it look effortless but it’s a lot of hard work being in a band these days! Still we pushed on and got through it and one of the good things that came out of that experience was this song. Sometimes when you’re going through some seriously dark tunnels in your life you have to hold on to the idea that there is a light at the end of it, so keep going and look out for yourselves.”
“On a more practical level it’s just a really powerful song to sing, especially live. Plaudits to Rory on this one, the “Never Been Better” hook is up there with his best!” Sam adds.
“Up till now everything we’ve released has just been written and recorded in our bedrooms but last year we were invited to Paris to work in a proper studio and “Never Been Better” was the first song we did there,” Beth reveals. “Having just made do with whatever we could scrape together before it was great to have use of all the amazing equipment they had there. The track’s a real pumper and it’s amazing to play live. Even though it hasn’t been released yet it’s already become a real favourite with our fans, one of those tracks that really gets everyone grooving.”
The band are set to release their EP, London, Paris, New York, Matlock this May. Catch Patawawa supporting Franc Moody around the U.K. this week.
