Leading up the to release of their third studio album entitled A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, The 1975’s frontman Matty Healy promised that the band wouldn’t be so coy when it came to politics within their art. Well, The 1975 have made good on that promise with the drop of their new video for “Love It If We Made It”; the second single from the new record.
“Love It If We Made It” is a powerful and eye-opening anthem for the current state of our world. The lyrics touch upon some of today’s hottest topics, including Donald Trump, racism, Kanye West and more. “Modernity has failed us,” Healy repeats throughout the track, claiming dissatisfaction with the society we have become, but he would “love it if we made it.”
In the video, the hard-hitting lyrics are accompanied by imagery from popular media (all matching up with their respective moments within the song), as well as the band rocking out as silhouettes, a multicultural montage of The 1975’s fans from across the globe, and an impressive dance break from Matty Healy à la Michael Jackson’s ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ video.
It seems like The 1975 are cooking up one monster of an album. A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships releases on November 3rd.
