With the current political landscape both nationally and globally, music has once again been an outlet for those seeking to vent. Typically buoyant Birmingham quartet Pleasure House have had their self-styled indie dance-pop vibe sullied by a relentless stream of what they call “hateful rhetoric and petty politics.” Dystopian doom and gloom much.
Alas, all is not lost. New track “Calm,” although fashioned with a slightly ironic angered fever, acts as a kind of call to arms to those seeking to remain level headed and kind hearted in an increasingly fractured society. An impassioned message of resistance, it is hard to recall the last revolutionary soundtrack to promote a chorus urging the empowered masses to simply calm down… but with enough poise and composure I think it might just work.
“Calm” is the first song to be lifted from the band’s new five-track Sentient EP due for release 26th May during an already busy period of touring.
