In typical WJC fashion we find him cross dressing for his recently dropped video to the single “Sweet Dreamer.” The visuals are vibrant, colorful and engaging as he leads us through a three dimensional televised parodied world of media frenzy including news stations, the shopping channel as well as a workout program to name a few. The 3D glasses suspend his disbelief and keep WJC in this dream where media is dictating what kind of world he should live in. He transitions through a range of channels and by his reactions it’s clear he’s heavily immersed in this televised fantasy world he observes. In the end, we find out that the whole video was an ad for a mattress uncovering the subtle underlying theme that not everything the media presents can be trusted.
It’s a fun and catchy tune perfect for rambunctious car sing alongs with the groovy guitar line heading the party. Once you get passed your urge to dance and listen to the lyrics it’s a song about proving yourself in a relationship and although the visual doesn’t necessarily compliment that it then becomes a self reflection of WJC trying to prove himself in this relationship with his newfound and ever growing fame.
