Kinds – Turn It Out

Blending piano-pop with some sultry and soothing R&B vocal vibes, UK duo Kinds’ new single “Turn It Out” is as finger-clicking good as their artwork suggests.

The second track from producers and songwriters Karen Warner and Mark Morrish following February’s debut “Hands Up,” the slick track blossoms in the chorus, acting as an uplifting mantra of perseverance and togetherness shining out from darkness replicated in both its lyrics and arrangement as Kinds explain: “It’s about dealing with certain events and emotions in our lives to create something empowering and uplifting. We wanted to replicate this with the emotion in the lyrics and instrumentation in the verses, set against the heavy rhythms with optimism shining through in the chorus. Instead of immersing ourselves in this dark state we wanted to create a song with a level of optimism set against these negative thoughts and experiences.”

The newcomers will be appearing at a free show at London’s Birthday tonight alongside Albert Gold.
