Josiah & the Bonnevilles – Cold Blood

Josiah & the Bonnevilles recently released their debut EP, Cold Blood.

The Tennessee three-piece have been praised for their part in the reaffirmation of old style Americana as a genre, with its impeccably written, articulate lyrics and warm soundtrack.

From the first beat of the titular “Cold Blood,” the authenticity, honesty and sincerity shines through. Particularly noteworthy is the classically earnest vocals of frontman Josiah Leming. This sets the tone of the four-track EP as the rest follows suit. The archetypal, if not a little cliché, harmonica weaved into the already rich soundscape of “Can You Hear It” and “Lie With Me” furthers the nostalgia of their sound, transporting the listener to a wistful haven of true, pure and credible song writing that is so often scarce today. “Long Gone” ends the record with an Americana-style ballad, Leming’s rough and ready vocals sing out about a beautiful, intricate guitar line before some piano is introduced to finish on a delicate lull.

The record is a brief yet sumptuous taste of some of the most wholesome tunes you’ll hear this year. Cold Blood is available now via Vagrant Records and the band will be touring Canada in support of Northcote throughout June:
