Tourist – To Have You Back

London-based music producer William Phillips – better known as Tourist – recently announced the upcoming release of his debut album U. Phillips is a household name for fans of Disclosure and Sam Smith, having co-wrote Smith’s Grammy award-winning melody, “Stay With Me.” The London producer offered a taste of what could be expected with his forthcoming studio collective with the release of its introductory single, “To Have You Back.”

“To Have You Back” introduces itself as a hushed crawl as it slithers through a barren landscape, drawing out the subtle instrumentals that harmonize the track. The beat combines with the steady chops of the clipped phrase ‘to have you back’ that reverberate an echo of mournful nostalgia. The drift brings the listener into a silent moment of repose before launching into a prismatic breakdown of synth inflections and anguished vocalizations that ride out all the way to the end of the song.

Phillips also teased out a snippet for the song’s video, which can be seen below.
