“It’s shaking the sky, and I’m following lightning. I’ll recover if you keep me alive. Don’t leave me behind, can you see me? I’m shining.”
Years & Years sure know how to pick perfect song titles. They’ve made us “Desire” and “Worship” them and then showed that their band is the current “King” of the up and coming music scene. Now, the British trio are letting their latest single “Shine.”
Taken from their debut album Communion, due out July 10th via Polydor, “Shine” is polished pop perfection with its infectious hook and glistening synth grooves. The band’s newest single is the perfect summer dance track, complete with breezy beats and hypnotizing vocals.
Frontman Olly Alexander explained that the meaning of shining “comes from the way somebody can make you feel totally brand-new and special and re-made in the light of their love” and yet also “unstable and overwhelming.”
Regardless of the single’s slightly grim meaning, “Shine” is sure to make listeners fall further in love with Years & Years.
