“Maybe youth is wasted on the young, our loss. Travel in packs, drinking our teenage spirit.”
Orla Gartland is a 20-year-old indie pop singer/songwriter from Dublin who gained fame after posting covers on YouTube, which all together have amassed over 11 million views. “Lonely People,” off of the January 2015 EP of the same name, features catchy melodies and a good mix of pop sounds and witty lyrics about proving and being oneself. Lonely People is Gartland’s second EP, after the release of her debut EP Roots in 2012. She put on her first headline show in London when she was just 17 and ended a seven-date North American tour in March.
Gartland will be playing Ireland’s Indiependence Festival this summer, but if you can’t make it to Mitchelsetown, be sure to follow along on her social media pages for info on upcoming shows. “Lonely People” is available for streaming on Soundcloud and Spotify and for purchase on iTunes.
